DUO CONCERTO ELYSEE
Duo concerto Elysee is formed by the dutch harpist Diana de Vries and the Russian violin player Alexej Pevzner. Alexej and Diana encountered in The Arnhem Philharmonic Orchestra where they both perform already a long time. There music consists elements of Baroque, Romantic, Impressionism or Contemporary music. Like Saint Saëns, Bach, Spohr, Salzedo and also a composition of Diana for this beautiful combination of violin and harp. They perform in concert halls, theaters, churches, castles, galleries, private homes and in special occasions during seminars. Alexej and Diana give a very interesting explanation and demonstration of their instruments and about the music they play during their performance. The beautiful sound of the violin and the warm and fairy like sound of the harp combine so wonderful and bring the audience in a very special enchantment.
The violinist Alexej Pevzner was born in 1972 in Moscow. Under the guidance of his father, he began playing violin at age six. Later he taught at the famous "Gnessin Music School" and at the Music College of the Moscow Conservatory.
Since 1990 Alexej Pevzner lives in the Netherlands where he completed his violin training at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam. He studied conducting at the Conservatory of Maastricht. Since 1994 Alexej Pevzner worked at the Gelders Orkest, first in the position of deputy captain second violins, later as a 2nd 2nd concertmaster. In addition, he regularly performs with various ensembles, both in the role of violinist and conductor.
Diana de Vries
At the Rotterdam Conservatorium she studied initially with the well – known pedagogue Margot Flipse and subsequently with the world-famous Italian harpist Susanna Mildonian.
After graduating she continued her studies with Edward Witsenburg and Mariëlle Nordmann in Paris. While still a student she began developing her wide-range musical activities, from symphonic playing through chamber music to her work as soloist.
Diana de Vries has been solo harpist of the Arnhem Philharmonic Orchestra( Het Gelders Orkest ) since 1982. She is also a member of the Eurus Chamber Ensemble, Trio Alankara, Trio Sagaro, Trio “Les Trois Muses”, duo Concerto Elysee. In duo combinations she also performs regularly with voice as well as various instruments including the flute and organ. Her repertoire is extensive, ranging from the Classical period through to the Avant-Garde.
In addition to her extensive performing activities Diana de Vries has built up an outstanding reputation as a teacher.
Together with her harp playing Diana also compose for the harp.
